Agora, meaning "now" in Portuguese, is a mobile application designed to address the transportation challenges faced by Berea College students. Inspired by a UX hackathon I led through the Google Developers Student Club at Berea, Agora became my Computer Science capstone project currently under development.
My goal for this bootcamp is to prepare for pitching competitions and develop a business model for this app with people with more experience in the field. Moreover, I would like to explore other avenues and possibilities, such as replicating or expanding the target audience from other small colleges or communities that face similar needs. As a future software developer, this would be an invaluable experience in creating an app that not only works but also is sustainable over time. Through the bootcamp, I personally aim to exercise my skills in effectively communicating the technical aspects of the mobile app to a wide audience and stakeholders. I see Agora as a promising tool to connect riders and drivers, providing a convenient and affordable alternative to car ownership and limited public transport options at Berea and maybe other similar communities.
