DocAI provides each patient with dynamic videos, which are personalized and animated, to facilitate patients’ understanding of their diagnoses and treatment plans, aiming to create easily understandable instructions related to the episode of care.
Problem
Most countries, including the United States, strive to provide each patient with clear, concise information related to their care after discharge. Studies reveal that 40% to 80% of the information provided to patients upon discharge is not retained by the patient/caregiver. This leads to anxiety and confusion for the patient and/or caregiver. This lack of understanding results in non-adherence to the prescribed treatment regimen, frustration experienced by the patient/caregiver, and overall dissatisfaction.
Solution
DocAI is a unique platform where patients can receive AI-generated videos based on input from their doctor’s notes. Our AI text-to-video generates personalized animated videos summarizing diagnoses, treatments, and post-appointment instructions. These videos are sent to patients and families, ensuring clear understanding, promoting adherence, and enhancing overall healthcare engagement and satisfaction.
Target Market
Potential users:
1. Patients: This includes people with low reading skills, patients with language barriers, seniors with increasing medical needs, forgetful patients, and patients with busy work or school schedules, all benefiting from our app.
2. Hospitals and Doctors’ Offices: We will introduce our technology and if they are interested, the platform will be used by doctors to fill in information that will be converted into videos for the patient.
User Interface
A doctor can input patient notes in our app, or they could upload a discharge file. Our platform will read this and convert it to an animated video. This animated video is sent to the patient’s end of the app and any approved contacts that they list. The patient then gets a notification and can watch the video. In the app, the doctor can see when a patient views the video. The app would also have a “request another video” button and a video library, allowing patients to go to past videos and re-watch them. The videos can be translated into patients’ native languages.
Business Model
DocAI will incorporate a cooperative financial model with hospitals. Hospitals seeking to offer high-quality post-care services to their patients can subscribe to our platform. This partnership will enable hospitals to provide their patients with access to our services, enhancing patient care and education post-discharge. Our innovative risk sharing model also allows us to take an incentive based on savings if our service reduces readmissions and improves patient experience scores.
Team
DocAI is comprised of three team members, Sarisha Lohano (Team Leader) and two team members from the community.
We see an incredibly large potential for DocAI to help patients understand discharge instructions, thus preventing future medical problems due to lack of adherence. We hope that the Entrepreneurs Bootcamp Online Business Accelerator will help us achieve our goal of providing patients with retainable, easy-access information and instructions.
