Jonathan Melman is the VP, Product for Lumenari, which he co-founded in Silicon Valley before moving the company to Lexington in 2015. Lumenari is developing novel down-converting phosphor materials for the LED industry. Dr. Melman has more than 10 years of experience in scientific research and semiconductor (LED) industry applications engineering, including leading multidisciplinary teams, and developing novel remote phosphor lighting products. He has also worked in a variety of areas involving rare earth chemistry for direct use and as materials precursors, catalyst and photocatalyst development, hydrogen storage, biocompatible metal oxide nanoparticles, biodiesel processes, and biomedical polymers. Dr. Melman has seven issued and eight pending patents. In addition to experience at two prior start-up companies, he received his BA in Chemistry from Northwestern University and his PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.
