Bruce Walcott

Bruce Walcott, Ph.D. is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Kentucky. He served as Associate Dean from 1998-2013. Dr. Walcott is the founder of the UK Center for Visualization and Virtual Environments which is leader of innovative engineering having launched Mersive Technologies and other award-winning high-tech start-ups as well as leading the College of Engineering in licensing revenue. He worked with local and state economic development professionals on several projects including a $77M project that brought the Aerospace Industry to central Kentucky and the WIRED-65 $5M project which focused on advancing manufacturing along the I-65 corridor in Kentucky. He has 19 patents or pending patents and has been PI or Co-PI on over $26M of external grants and contracts. Dr. Walcott is the recipient of over thirty professional and teaching awards including the IEEE Joseph M. Biedenbach Award, the Eta Kappa Nu C. Holmes MacDonald Award, the Society of Automotive Engineers Ralph Teetor Award and the National Tau Beta Pi Advisor of the Year Award.
