Matt is the Senior Associate Director, Intellectual Property Development in the Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC) at the University of Kentucky (UK), where he is focused on working with UK innovators to identify, analyze, and protect innovations developed at UK. Matt is a licensed patent attorney.
He began his career with Standley Law Group LLP in Dublin, Ohio later becoming a partner at Barney DeBrosse, LLC in Columbus, Ohio focusing on patent preparation and prosecution, patent litigation and innovation commercialization. Following private practice, Matt was patent counsel for the North American region for Wacker Chemical Corporation based in Adrian, Michigan. Matt graduated with a degree in chemistry from West Virginia University and magna cum laude with a Juris Doctorate from Capital University Law School.
Matt has been a guest speaker to the Entrepreneurs Bootcamp teams and helped early stage startups with a general overview on intellectual property.
