February 2022 (Lexington, Ky) The University of Kentucky Global Health Initiatives and The Von Allmen Center for Entrepreneurship in the Gatton College of Business & Economics, will be partnering to host a virtual Hack-A-Thon event on Saturday, February 26, 2022, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. A total cash prize of $5,000 will be awarded to the top “hacking” teams.
These funds have been generously sponsored by Global Health Initiatives and The Institute for the Study of Free Enterprise.

Hack-A-Thon Overview
The challenges of today’s world have accentuated the burden of mental health at home and abroad. Here’s your chance to help propose solutions to this global problem! You're invited to join an all-day Mental Health Virtual Hack-A-Thon on Saturday, February 26th.
Hack-A-Thon Scheduling Details
- February 25 (Friday Orientation): Participants interested in learning about this Hack-A-Thon are invited to join an orientation meeting being offered in a hybrid format on Friday, February 25 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Participants may attend in person or via Zoom. If attending in person, the event will be in the Venture Studio, Gatton College of Business and Economics (550 S. Limestone St., Room 124)
- February 26 (Saturday’s Virtual Hack-A-Thon Event): A one-day virtual hack-a-thon event with educational workshops to assist teams in developing their ideas on Saturday, February 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Participants will work in teams of 1-5 members
- Whether you already have an innovative idea and a team or need help figuring out both, this event welcomes you
- Teams will reach into all aspects of knowledge, design, development, and marketing to prepare a 5-minute pitch/presentation via Zoom
- Open to all Kentucky residents (including international students)
- $5,000 in total prize money available to winning teams
- Top teams enter the Fall 2022 VACE Entrepreneurs Bootcamp 1.0 to assess their solution, create a business model, and work toward bringing their idea to market
