Bullard's Commitment to Supporting Gatton’s Entrepreneurial Ecosystem

Bullard, a long-standing Kentucky-based company with a rich history of innovation, is deepening its commitment to fostering entrepreneurship within the Gatton College of Business & Economics and The Von Allmen Center for Entrepreneurship. Bullard's involvement extends to supporting the Von Allmen Center for Entrepreneurship, which plays a crucial role in nurturing aspiring entrepreneurs at the University of Kentucky and throughout the Commonwealth.

Wells Bullard, President and CEO of Bullard, provides valuable mentorship by welcoming one of VACE’s Bootcamp founders, Wyatt Hench, to their facility for a tour and learning more about Wyatt’s company, Handy Hat. His startup is focused on creating a unique wearable hat that simplifies toolkit organization. Bullard's history of innovation, originating with the invention of the hard hat, is a great example for up-and-coming entrepreneurs.

“I visited Bullard and had the opportunity to speak with the Product Manager for Head Protection, Carlos Torres, and the CEO, Wells Bullard about their journey leading a top hard hat company. We discussed their experience with patents, U.S.-based manufacturing, the importance of understanding customers’ needs, and why the company is headquartered in Kentucky. They also gave me valuable feedback on The Handy Hat, shared useful connections, and offered insight into different manufacturing methods and her decision-making process around keeping production domestic. I appreciate VACE connecting me and for the Bullard team taking the time to talk!” – Wyatt Hench, Undergraduate Student in Mechanical Engineering at The University of Kentucky

By collaborating with the Gatton College of Business, Bullard contributes to the development of future business leaders and supports programs that promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and job creation.

“We loved meeting Wyatt and were so impressed by his entrepreneurial spirit! Wyatt is so courageous to put himself out there and seek feedback as he seeks to solve real-life problems for real-life people! We at Bullard are so proud to get to learn from the amazing talent at the University of Kentucky! Thank you to Warren and VACE for connecting us to such innovative thinkers!” – Wells Bullard, CEO, Bullard

These partnerships not only benefit UK students and faculty but also contribute to the economic growth of Kentucky.

“Bullard was very gracious to meet with us. Their mentorship was invaluable.” – Warren Nash, Director, The Von Allmen Center for Entrepreneurship
