You’ve done the research – now let The Von Allmen Center help you explore your technology or clinical ideas. To get started, here’s a few steps and good "how to’s" to follow when developing your research at The University of Kentucky.
Disclosing Your Intellectual Property
Any innovation or discovery conceived or developed using university resources is a partnership between university faculty, staff and students who make the discoveries. The Intellectual Property Development Office (IPDO), conveniently located in the ASTeCC building, will help you with the online disclosure and patenting process. Contact their office regarding disclosure procedures, or other intellectual property related concerns.
Incubators and Lab Space
The Advanced Science & Technology Commercialization Center, better known as ASTeCC, is UK's business incubator housing new and emerging technology-based companies. Startup companies in ASTeCC have licensed UK intellectual property or have a connection to UK faculty or staff.
ASTeCC is also home to faculty labs for research with commercialization potential, and shared-use facilities for the entire campus, including the Center for Nanoscale Science and Engineering, the Electron Microscopy Center and the Mass Spectrometry Facility. Located in the middle of campus within the engineering complex, ASTeCC opened in 1994.
